Which one should you pick?

Why churches choose Notebird

  • You track birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, and custom milestones with reminders. FlockConnect says it has not built this yet.
  • You use Breeze or Church Windows. Notebird syncs with both directly; FlockConnect syncs only with Planning Center today.
  • You want a daily Early Bird email of who needs attention and a team activity feed you can filter by group and team member.
  • You want printable, customizable per-person care reports and instant search across people, updates, and tasks.
  • You want Notebird Flight School onboarding, a resource library, and email and chat support included.

When FlockConnect may fit better

  • You want one flat price for the whole church. FlockConnect Starter is $9 per month or $89 per year for unlimited users, so a large volunteer care team costs the same as one pastor.
  • You want group leaders to record Sunday attendance in the same tool, then follow up on people who stop showing up.
  • You want to email or text members a short check-in survey and see the answers on their record.
  • You are interested in AI-generated care suggestions, connection health scores, and relationship maps, and you are willing to wait for those tiers to launch.
  • You value note privacy above all: every FlockConnect note starts private to its author, and changing visibility requires multi-factor authentication.

Notebird vs FlockConnect: common questions

What is the difference between Notebird and FlockConnect?
Both log pastoral care per person with private notes and follow-up tasks. Notebird is organized around a shared care history: updates, tasks, milestones with reminders, a team activity feed, printable reports, and a daily Early Bird email. FlockConnect is organized around connection health: it adds Sunday attendance, member check-in surveys, and, on future tiers, AI suggestions about who is drifting. FlockConnect does not yet track milestones or birthdays.
Is FlockConnect cheaper than Notebird?
For most teams, yes on the Starter plan. FlockConnect Starter is $9 per month or $89 per year for unlimited users. Notebird is $12 per month for one user, then $8, $6, and $4 per additional user, less when billed annually. FlockConnect's AI, SMS, and maps features are on size-based tiers from $49 to $499 or more per month that were still marked coming soon when we checked.
Does FlockConnect sync with Planning Center?
Yes. FlockConnect is an official Planning Center integration partner. It imports people, groups, households, and check-in history, and writes back only name corrections, active status, and an optional weekly "last seen" attendance date, each after your approval. Notebird also syncs directly with Planning Center, plus Breeze and Church Windows.
Does FlockConnect track birthdays and milestones?
Not yet. FlockConnect's own comparison page lists a milestones feed and daily birthday digest as things Notebird has that FlockConnect has not built. Notebird tracks birthdays, anniversaries, baptisms, and custom milestones with reminders and includes them in the daily Early Bird email.
Does FlockConnect have a mobile app?
FlockConnect is a web app you add to your phone's home screen, with a Log button in the bottom bar and push notification reminders. We found no App Store or Google Play listing. Notebird works the same way: a mobile web app you add to the home screen on iOS or Android, with no store download.
Can I move my Notebird notes to FlockConnect?
FlockConnect says it has a Notebird importer for people and pastoral notes history, plus self-serve CSV import and concierge migration on request. Imported notes get one visibility setting for the whole file. Notebird does not sync with FlockConnect; moving the other way is a CSV export and Notebird's free people import.
Is what FlockConnect says about Notebird accurate?
Mostly. Notebird does bill per user, though the rate drops as the team grows and every feature is on every plan. Notebird does not have forms, native attendance, AI insights, SMS, or maps, and it is a mobile web app rather than a store app. FlockConnect also credits Notebird with milestones, a birthday digest, and Breeze and Church Windows syncs that FlockConnect does not have.
Is FlockConnect a church management system?
No. FlockConnect calls itself a Church Relationship Manager and says outright that it does not replace Planning Center. Like Notebird, it has no giving, check-in, or accounting features. Both are meant to run next to a ChMS.
